Know More about Labour Insurance: Make Good Use of Government Information
Employees’ Compensation Insurance (ECI), commonly known as Labour Insurance, is a type of insurance that local employers must purchase for their employees required by the Laws of Hong Kong. According to section 40 of the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance, no employer shall employ any employee in any employment unless there is in force a policy of insurance to cover his liabilities under the laws (including the common law) for injuries at work in respect of all his employees, irrespective of the length of employment contracts or working hours, full-time or part-time employment.

Road Users’ Code: Good Compliance Ensures a Safe Journey
Pursuant to the rules and advice for all drivers in Chapter 5 of the Road Users’ Code prepared by the Transport Department, the vehicle owner/ driver must follow certain practices, including having the vehicle covered by an effective insurance policy and a valid vehicle licence displayed on the lefthand side of the windscreen. Also, he/ she must keep the vehicle in good working order and follow the vehicle owner’s handbook advice on regular servicing and vehicle checks.

Home Affairs Department: A Comprehensive Database for Easy Reference
When purchasing Home Insurance or Building (Fire and Perils) Insurance, the insurer may request information such as the address of the residence to be insured, the age of the building, or the name of the property management company. The Database of Private Buildings in Hong Kong, established by the Home Affairs Department, allows citizens and other government departments to easily search for basic information on private buildings, including number of units, storeys and year built, as well as information on building organisations, and so forth.
